Reflection

Written By: Bakhreza A Talip Overall there were 11 foundation element briefly described in this framework: motivations, outcomes, background, stakeholders, resources, theme, narrative, trajectory, nodes, tools and public face. Personally doing a design following a particular framework bring the organize sense of the process itself but also time consumed for this project in particular. It was useful by applying this kind of framework create an opportunity to extend the idea in extensive way. This is because in each stage inside the framework leads us to think and consider different perspective to deliver and make improvement of the he original idea. Therefore, after completing some stage inside the framework may result to different outcome. In addition to that each phase required a different skill and concern. It can be described as going from the inner side of thinking until to different way of idea visualization. A first thing came...

Reflection

Using the framework at the beginning was more of a hindrance than anything. It made the overall project seem more intricate than we needed to focus on at such an early stage. In that it made us feel the need to take more into consideration, making the freedom of brainstorming become more restricted, lowering the amount of idea branches we could have applied. however, saying that, it did mean that we were more realistic in terms of what we can and cannot do in this project. For example, we realized early on the amount of information we would need to give the potential students, so we figured that whatever path we did take, it would have to entail all of those activities. This helped in the later stages, understanding exactly who we would be catering for allowed us to be more fine tuned in what we could do. But the ideas we arrived at in the initial phases were very vague and undefined. As can be expected of initial ideas, but the flood of required information; how many attending, requir...

I found using the framework in the initial stages to be an interesting experience. While it does follow a design pattern somewhat similar to what I'd normally go with it required that I observe a lot of specifics to a far greater extent than I normally would and certain thing such as background research were ordered strangely. The framework starts out with motivations which was useful for figuring out the target audience and considering relevant stake holders and outcomes such as research. Having already considered the reasons behind the project also helped in being able to voice and explain the project in its initial stages to other people. The outcomes we came up with following this framework were relatively vague. We want the students to have a fun time and learn some important information about locations and services whilst getting to know each other and forming new friends. This gives us a goal, that's rather obvious becuase of the pre-defined goal of our project. If a...

Puzzles

So I've been looking into the type of puzzles/scenarios we could go into and I was wondering what everyone thinks about competitions and competitive puzzles? Good idea? Bad idea? I'm not really sure the impact making things more competitive would have but I'm concerned that it might detract from the experience for some people. On the other side, it would potentially make the outcomes of the puzzle more interesting. Thoughts?

Some notes from Interview 1 - Matt

A quick summary of some of my notes from the first meeting with Debbie, Melanie and Maggie : Scheduling: The school has a compulsary session for the students at 3pm on Wednesday which involves a series of talks followed by a BBQ. Talks: Welcome from head of schools Program directors with essential information Kathy Industry person Student Groups - OCCA BBQ: GPSOUTH It's possible to get us an hour of time within this period by dropping some of the talks, which I feel could be useful in terms of having everyone in one information gather session, but it's probably too restricting to confine the whole project to this small time window. If we chose to create another time session to run some form of organised event it would be possible to arrange a mail out with futher instructions. Events and Locations and Other Stuff: Some key things that the students need to do that migh...

How Location Tracking Works

by Kevin Bonsor source: http://people.howstuffworks.com/location-tracking.htm ...................Conceptual Idea :::::::::........... As children playing hide and seek , there seemed to be so many places where we could hide and never be found. With the world becoming ever smaller through technology , hiding is increasingly difficult. Cameras peer down on us at red lights, in our workplace, in stores and even at home. Now, those cameras are being augmented by new technologies that track our cars, cell phones and possibly any product we buy. This location-tracking technology also is being used to streamline supply chains for corporations, seeking to move products to the market faster, and to monitor assets and prevent inventory loss. Soon, companies also will be able to track your location. Imagine walking through your local supermarkets, and as you pass through the aisle, an electronic coupon for your favorite cereal is beamed to your phone. However, many privacy advocates are wo...
